That takes some of the shine off the Lifetime warranty. A significant percentage of DIY installers report that the interlocking tabs can break during installation or if pieces must be separated after installation. The Lifetime warranty for residential use is significantly better than most. It is not prorated and does not have excessive qualifications that make it easy for the manufacturer to deny warranty claims.

However, considering that most LifeProof flooring reviews mention how easy it is to break the interlocking clasps… maybe it’s not really that DIY-friendly after all. Even laminate flooring has waterproof choices nowadays, like Mohawk’s RevWood. Check out our vinyl plank vs. laminate guide if you’re curious to see how they stack up. Lots of the LifeProof reviews we read mentioned that the product’s residential warranty is excellent.
Virtually All Vinyl Plank Can Be Installed as a Floating Floor—Not just LifeProof
But, there’s nothing about LifeProof’s waterproof qualities that makes it better than any other waterproof option. This means it’s much easier to ship and install—but there’s a general rule about flooring (and maybe anything that’s supposed to be durable) that more weight means more strength. There’s a reason the most durable wood flooring also tends to be the heaviest.

LifeProof is ideal for installation over radiant heat flooring. There are a few simple guidelines to follow in the Installation Guide to ensure success. The ISOCORE foam core gives the material rigidity and strength normally found in thicker, heavier materials. It is easy to work with, and slight imperfections or tile grout beneath won’t show through the flooring. The wear layer is new vinyl (it’s not recycled). It is embossed with woodgrain texture or stone texture.
LifeProof Vinyl Flooring Reviews Often Mention That It’s Easy to Install
For example, CoreTec Plus luxury vinyl flooring has a 10-year commercial warranty to go with the Lifetime residential coverage. To this point, we’ve only mentioned the residential warranty. And that’s because LifeProof vinyl flooring’s commercial warranty is… not great. The average commercial warranty only lasts five years, and doesn’t cover a host of common occurrences like wear. You should not install this flooring on stairs or over carpet, other floating floors including laminate, rubber, cork, foam underlayment or cushioned vinyl.
Can use a biased cross wave on my life proof vinyl floor. LifeProof is better than the cheapest stuff, perhaps not as good as premium LVP. But in the middle, it offers good quality, a competitive price and some of the best warranty coverage available.
How to Purchase LifeProof Vinyl Plank Flooring
If you’re looking for outdoor flooring options, keep looking. Vinyl plank flooring, in general, can often be used outdoors. However, some products do fade in direct sunlight . In fact, for a product that’s supposed to be some of the easiest flooring to install, a lot of LifeProof owners note that they damaged at least a few planks during installation.

Reviews for these products are mixed at best. First-time buyers seem to like them, but people who have had other types of vinyl rarely do. We’re not going to say that LifeProof is terrible. There are many lower-end EVP flooring options that are a lot worse. If you’re unfamiliar with this brand, don’t worry—you’re not alone.
Permalink I had trail oak installed in my downstairs including kitchen and half bath. I thought I would love the color, but there are other colors I wish I had gone with. Hope this is helpful information and you have good luck finding a product to meet your needs. As long as the floor beneath it is in decent shape without rises and low spots, this luxury vinyl material will transform your floors with little preparation required.
We have 5/8 of an incredible difference between our LifeProof vinyl and our tile. It still looks great and we continue to get complements on it. We will be doing our upstairs in it or something very similar, but will have the steps stained to match the flooring instead of spending $800 just for the pieces for our steps. Permalink Hi, hopefully this reaches someone that can help.
LifeProof flooring in the 6.5-mil category may compare favorably to low-end LVP products, but not by much and not for the price. If you’re looking for a budget-friendly LVP option, we’d recommend going with a brand like Newton over LifeProof. Newton’s LVP specs are superior to LifeProof’s, for the most part, but at a lower price .
This feature increases Armstrong vinyl’s durability—and frankly, LifeProof doesn’t offer anything similar. Reviews are better for these products but, again, largely mixed. There are only eight total options that come in this thickness range. I worked hard & I’m pretty sore and tired now.
